MEC3 has been developing and producing ingredients and semi-finished products for artisan gelato and pastry since 1984 from San Clemente, in the Rimini area of Italy's Emilia-Romagna region. Founded by Giordano Emendatori, the company grew into one of the world's leading suppliers of gelato ingredients, serving tens of thousands of gelato makers and pastry professionals across international markets.

The range covers gelato and soft serve bases, flavouring pastes, variegates, toppings and inclusions, alongside concepts for frozen yogurt. Proprietary lines such as Cookies® and the Quella® variegate are among the best-known products in the artisan gelato world.

MEC3 operates today as part of the Casa Optima group (Optima S.p.A.) and invests continuously in research and development and in professional training, helping gelato and pastry businesses develop recipes, menus and seasonal programs built on Italian know-how.
